The Complete Edition, and it is not close. Steam sells them as two separate products, and the primary buy button is the base game — which contains neither expansion. Complete is listed as "Includes 3 items: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Blood and Wine, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Hearts of Stone". At list that is $49.99 against $39.99, so $10 buys you two expansions that cost $24.99 on their own as the Expansion Pass. In the promotion running as this page was written the gap narrowed to $2.00, base at $7.99 against Complete at $9.99. Blood and Wine alone is a full second region; buying base to save ten dollars is the most common mistake made with this game.

Not after the next update. CD Projekt has published new minimum requirements that take effect "starting from the next update", setting the floor at 64-bit Windows 11 for both The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, following Microsoft ending support for Windows 10 on 14 October 2025. The studio's wording is direct: "Without ongoing security updates, official platform support, and continued GPU driver support, we will no longer test our games on Windows 10." Hard drives go at the same time — the new floor is a 70GB SSD, plus 12GB of RAM. As of today that update has not shipped and the game still installs and runs on Windows 10, but anyone buying on a Windows 10 machine is buying into a countdown.

Yes on Steam and GOG, no on Epic. CD Projekt documents a supported rollback: on Steam, right-click the game, then Properties, then BETAS, and select the CLASSIC branch. On GOG Galaxy it is Manage Installation, then Configure, then set Beta Channels to Classic and turn off automatic updates. On Epic the studio is explicit that "it isn't possible to revert to an earlier version of the game. The platform only provides access to the latest available version." The caveat worth knowing is that CD Projekt also states "Only the latest version of the game is fully supported". This is the escape hatch if the incoming Windows 11, SSD and DirectX 12 floor rules out your machine — and a reason to buy on Steam or GOG rather than Epic.

Today you can pick; after the next update you cannot. Steam's store page still lists DirectX 11 as the minimum, but CD Projekt has confirmed it is going: "The game will exclusively run using DirectX 12, which allows us to support ongoing technical improvements and modern hardware more effectively." The practical consequence is narrower than it sounds but real — the studio says only "graphics cards with ongoing active driver support for gaming on Windows 11 will be supported", so an older GPU that runs the game fine today may need the CLASSIC branch afterwards. If you are installing it this week and your machine is modest, the DirectX 11 path is still there.

Not in 2026, but it is no longer a finished game. On 27 May 2026 CD Projekt announced Songs of the Past, a full expansion expected sometime in 2027 — which is what the whole requirements change is in service of. Two things are not yet known and should not be assumed: whether it is paid, and whether Complete Edition owners are included. The studio has said only that it is coming in 2027 and that more will be shared in late summer. So buying today does not demonstrably get you the expansion. It also means the game is an active development target again after eleven years, which is why the hardware floor is moving at all.
